In the Shape of Feeling

Single work · After the likeness

I did not want to create a portrait. But a body, a skin. A form that does not merely show, but makes tangible what arises between people when closeness, power, and desire can no longer be kept apart.

At the center stands Caroline Mathilde, the English princess and later Danish queen, defiant, far ahead of her time. Around her, two men, bound by a complicated history of dependence, friendship, and secret passion. It was not love shared by three, but a silent understanding: they lived what was forbidden. One loved, one tolerated, one finally saw her.

Out of this dynamic a new figure emerged. A single body, strange and yet human. Its surface recalls the body of an octopus: elastic, soft, permeable. Arms or limbs wrap around it like thoughts that cannot be shaken off. Clothing becomes a shell, a memory of a role once played.

I did not want a likeness. I wanted to make a feeling visible.
