Disruption

I wanted to know how far I could go without looking back. The classical portraiture of the Renaissance was my point of departure, those calm faces with closed eyes, entranced, still, almost sacred. But I opened the eyes. Not theirs, mine.

With the help of AI I began to form something new out of these silent portraits. Not a likeness, not a memory, but a space between. A glimpse of something that never existed and yet seems strangely familiar. Faces that linger like dreams on the threshold of waking. Almost real. Almost false.

I cut through the order, warped the lines, disturbed the clarity. For what is truth in a time when images no longer prove, but tell?

This series is not a nostalgic look back, nor a science fiction fairy tale. It is a state of now. A flicker. A friction. And perhaps an intimation of what it feels like when art no longer searches only for likenesses, but for possibilities.

AI is my tool in this, like a brush. I layer, intervene, discard, until the image I had in my mind is there. Sometimes unsettling, sometimes beautiful, always demanding. These works are not photographs in the classical sense. They are transformations. Fragments of a future that is just now reinventing itself.
